Sharon Marubashi

The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating Japanese Canadian culture, history, and heritage. It hosts clubs, workshops, and classes for various age groups, focusing on cultural education, etiquette, and community engagement. The non-profit company is based in Toronto, Canada. The centre offers programs in traditional and contemporary Japanese arts such as odori dance, naginata and iaido martial arts, flower arranging, shodo calligraphy, koto music, taiko drumming, and hula dance. The centre houses the Moriyama Nikkei Heritage Centre, an art gallery, a library with extensive Japanese Canadian resources, and the Sedai Oral History Collection. It organizes annual events including the Japanese Film Festival and the Sakura Gala, and provides rental spaces, catering services, and volunteer opportunities. The Canadian company was founded in 1963 by Coby Yutaka, Yone Kobayashi.
