DEWB-VC is a hands-on manager which invests in young and established German, Austrian and Swiss medium-sized growth companies in the photonics and sensor systems, including generation (lasers, bulbs), manipulation (lenses, gratings), transfer (optical fibre), conversion (solar cells, LED), storage (CD, DVD, holograms), visualization (displays) and exploitation (water sterilization using UV rays.) The firm prefers to act as lead investor, seeking to increase investee company value by taking significant minority stakes and typically investing between EUR 1-EUR 7 million for three to seven years. They seek to invest in companies with registered offices in Germany, Austria or Switzerland which have experienced management, strategic vision, an established network in their relevant market, products and services with a unique selling point in a strong growth market, an established client base and innovative, patentable technology. Through their network, DEWB-VC provides scientific and industrial support to their investee companies, aiming to create value up to exit, typically in the form of an IPO, trade sale or buy-back.
