The investment strategy for each asset class is conceptualized in terms of strategic and tactical allocation processes. Strategic asset allocation is computed using a proprietary program that optimizes the risk-return profile of the portfolio. For fixed-income investments, Man Investments implements a combined top-down and bottom-up investment process, starting with a broadly diversified portfolio which matches the sector and country allocation of its benchmark, then weighting regions, sectors or countries based on qualitative and quantitative assumptions made in the firm's quarterly market review. Their AHL division runs several managed futures investment programs using systematic trading models and statistical analysis to identify pricing inefficiencies in hundreds of financial instruments traded on highly-regulated exchanges around the world. The managed futures trading approach is predominantly trend-following, seeking to profit from movements in the price of instruments whether the price is rising or falling.
