WCAM is an active investor and manages low-volatility diversified portfolios invested globally in equity and fixed-income with a primary focus on UK securities. They benchmark portfolios against indexes such as the IMA UK All Companies Sector Index and the IMA UK Equity Income Sector Index. They have no market cap restrictions and invest across industry sectors. The firm conducts top-down macroeconomic research, analyzing global political, economic and social issues in order to allocate assets as well as bottom-up stockpicking based on fundamental research. They base stock selection on criteria such as business model, management, financial strength and relative valuation. WCAM primarily aims to achieve long-term investment value, but also manages a portfolio which aims to capture short-term trading opportunities. As the manager of funds of funds, they combine top-down asset allocation based on macroeconomic research with a disciplined fund selection and monitoring process. They select both UK and international funds and benchmark against indexes such as the FT/S&P Actuaries World (ex UK) Index, the FTSE All Share Index, and the APCIMS Income Index.
