Thomas Leoni

Dr. Thomas Leoni is a Senior Economist at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
He has been working in the Research Group "Labor Market, Income and Social Security" since 2005.
He is currently a lecturer in Economic Policy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) and a member of the Ethics Committee of the Danube University Krems.
His areas of expertise include industrial relations, income distribution, the comparative welfare state, and social policy analysis, as well as health-related labor market topics.
Dr. Thomas Leoni is the author of numerous studies, book chapters, and publications in peer-reviewed journals, including the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Social Science Research, and Small Business Economics.
From 2012 to 2017 he was a Research Economist at the Disability Research Center of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
He held numerous teaching assignments at various universities.
He participated and held coordinating positions in numerous projects for national and international stakeholders.
He was visiting researchers at the Institute for Social and Economic Research of the University of Essex, at the Center for Economic and International Studies of the University di Roma Tor Vergata and at the Institute for the Economics of Inequality of the WU Wien.
After degrees from the University of Bologna (Diploma di Laurea in Philosophy) and the Johns Hopkins University (M.A. in International Economics and European Studies), he completed a doctorate in Economics at the WU Wien.
