Sticklen worked as a Program Director at The Dow Chemical Co. He then worked as a Vice President of Operations at DuPont Performance Elastomers LLC from 1999 to 2005.
After that, he worked as a Senior Vice President of Engineering & Technology at Hawkeye Renewables LLC from 2009 to 2011, and later as a SVP of Engineering, Technology & Project Development at Hawkeye Energy Holdings LLC.
Sticklen received his undergraduate degree from The University of Queensland.
