Mary Hatwood Futrell

Mary Hatwood Futrell is currently the Director at the University of Lynchburg, Virginia State University, Kettering Foundation, International Council on Education For Teaching, and Education International.
She is also a Professor at George Washington University and the President of the American Region at the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Org.
In addition, she serves as a Member of Phi Delta Kappa International and the U.S.
National Commission For Unesco.
Previously, Dr. Futrell held positions as the Director at Horace Mann Educators Corp., Stride, Inc., Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Holmes Partnership, The National Commission on Teaching & America's Future, and The National Society for the Study of Education.
She was also the President of the National Education Association, Virginia Education Association, ERAmerica, and the World Confederation of the Teaching Profession.
Dr. Futrell obtained her graduate and doctorate degrees from George Washington University and her undergraduate degree from Virginia State University.
