Mr. Niemann joined Legg Mason Capital Management in 2001.
Previously, he spent five years as a Strategy Consultant at Corporate Decisions, Inc. and Bain & Company creating and redesigning business models in a broad range of industries, including information technology, media, retail, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to that, he developed and marketed software at Kenan Systems.
Mr. Niemann earned a BA in molecular biology from Princeton University and studied medical genetics as a Fulbright Scholar in Austria.
While at Princeton he published two papers in professional scientific journals and was named one of the "Top 20 College Students" by Time magazine.
Mr. Niemann also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
He received his CFA designation in 2004.
