Previously, he worked as a Scientist at Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corp., Principal at National Aeronautics & Space Administration, Vice President-Space Systems at Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., Trustee at The Ohio Aerospace Institute, and Vice President-Research at The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his graduate and doctorate degrees from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
