In addition to providing venture capital, they take Board positions and work closely with the management teams developing strategic plans of targeted action. Their objective is to increase value and ensure long-term profitable growth of their portfolio firms. They may also contribute to later-stage development of their portfolio firms' which have proven business models. They generally exit from their investments in three to seven years through a public offering or sale to a trade buyer.
