Don MacKinnon

Mr. Donald J.
MacKinnon is a Chairman & President at Inpoint Commercial Real Estate Income, Inc., a Head of Commercial Real Estate Credit & Portfolio Manager at Sound Point Capital Management LP and a Chief Operating Officer at ARC Realty Finance Advisors LLC.
Mr. MacKinnon serves on the Sound Point Capital Management’s Commercial Real Estate Investment Committee, Conflicts Committee, Management Committee, Risk Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and ESG Committee.
Prior to joining Sound Point, Mr. MacKinnon served as President & Chief Operating Officer of Realty Finance Trust, Inc. from January 2013 to December 2015.
In his role, Mr. MacKinnon started the company, raised $800M of equity, built a team of 24 professionals and originated a portfolio of $1.3 billion of debt investments.
Prior to starting Realty Financial Trust, Mr. MacKinnon served as Senior Vice President & Head of High-Yield Portfolio Management for Cole Real Estate Investments from 2011 through 2012.
From 2008 to 2011, Mr. MacKinnon was a Partner with EndPoint Financial, LLC.
From 2004 through 2007, Mr. MacKinnon was a Managing Director at Nomura Securities International where he managed the North American Structured Credit Trading businesses.
Prior to joining Nomura, Mr. MacKinnon served as President & Chief Executive Officer of REALM, Inc., a privately owned real estate software and services company primarily.
Before joining REALM, Mr. MacKinnon was Co-Head & Co-Founder of the Commercial Mortgage Group and Manager of the European Asset Securitization Group at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc. (DLJ).
Prior to joining DLJ in 1992, Mr. MacKinnon worked in the Real Estate Finance Group at Salomon Brothers, Inc. on a variety of commercial real estate debt and equity transactions.
Mr. MacKinnon also served on the Board of Directors for CRIIMI Mae, Inc. from 2001 to 2003.
He earned a B.A. in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, and earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
