Profil
During the course of his management career, he has served both as a general manager and in many business functions, including business development, sales, marketing, product development and manufacturing in companies such as Eaton, Danaher and CNH (formerly Case Corporation).
Key areas of focus have been growth, continuous improvement and innovation.
His varied assignments have spanned the globe and have included the turnaround of a European factory, crash development of new products and the spin-off of a small manufacturing operation.
Prior to joining Republic in October 2007, Mr. Tierney was global market manager for flooring at Johns Manville, where he launched new products and developed new sales channels to generate $60 million in sales.
As leader of John’s Manville’s North American High Performance Nonwovens business, he reversed shrinking sales -- growing sales over 20 percent in a period of 18 months.
Mr. Tierney began his career in the US Navy, flying the EA-6B from the USS Independence and USS Midway.
Mr. Tierney graduated with merit from the United States Naval Academy, pursued graduate studies at the University of Paris on a Cox Fund Scholarship, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
