Francis Mer

Francis Paul Mer is currently the Chairman of Foundation Condorcet and a Member-Supervisory Board at Fondation pour l'Innovation Politique since 2012.
Previously, he served as the Chief Executive Officer-Mousson at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA from 1970 to 1986.
He was also the President, Chief Executive Officer & Director at Usinor Sacilor SA and Co-Chairman at ArcelorMittal SA. From 1999 to 2002, he held the position of Chairman at Cockerill Sambre SA. Additionally, he served as the Chairman of Ugine SA in 2002.
He was the Chairman of Université Paris Dauphine-PSL and the World Steel Association in 1998.
He also served as the Chairman of Le Cercle de l'Industrie, the European Confederation of Iron & Steel Industries from 1990 to 2007, and Entreprises pour l'Environnement.
He was the Chairman of the National Technical Research Association and the Fédération Française de l'Acier.
Mr. Mer was a Director at Adecco Group AG, Alstom SA, Solvay France SA, Borusan Holding AS, and the Laboratoire Français du Fractionnement et des Biotechnologies.
He also served as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Viohalco SA. He was the President of Safran SA from 2006 to 2010.
Mr. Mer holds a graduate degree from Ecole Polytechnique and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris.
