MWNA seeks to deliver consistent, absolute returns from a constantly evolving investment landscape. The firm also advises clients for whom their objective is to deliver long-term capital appreciation as opposed to absolute returns. MWNA and their affiliates have two distinct but complementary approaches to equity long-short fund management. The first is traditional, manager-led fundamental long/short or long-only investing. The second is process-driven and systematic, including Marshall Wace TOPS (MW TOPS) and the Alpha Plus strategy.

CDPQ uses a fundamental investment approach and quantitative and technical analysis for the investment process. For specialized portfolios, the firm’s analysis is predominantly bottom-up and focuses on knowledge of a company's operations, analysis of the financial statements, a relative evaluation, and meetings with management. CDPQ employs top-down analysis to develop various economic scenarios and financial and quantitative analyses of the market.

Folger Hill Asset Management's Funds seek to consistently generate attractive, risk-adjusted returns in all market environments while preserving investor capital. Folger Hill attempts to achieve this objective by allocating the assets of the Master Fund to the discretionary investment authority of their portfolio managers and investment teams that employ long/short equity and related investment strategies. These strategies are not limited with regard to sector, market capitalization, geography, or style. In addition to equities and equity indices, Folger Hill invests in foreign and domestically traded preferred stocks, warrants, fixed income instruments, options, futures, and other derivatives and financial instruments to supplement their investment strategies. The SMAs managed by Folger Hill seek to realize maximum capital appreciation, consistent with the client’s specified guidelines by trading in certain equity securities, futures contracts, options contracts, and other products. Folger Hill's Funds and SMAs (“clients”) invest on both a cash and synthetic basis and take short positions for both speculative and hedging purposes. Folger Hill may cause clients to incur significant leverage in executing the Funds’ investment strategies through both cash and synthetic borrowings, as well as a result of any leverage embedded in derivatives they trade. Folger Hill Asset Management LLC, the general partner of FHAM US, established Folger Hill Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. (FHAM HK), a company incorporated in Hong Kong and licensed with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, to conduct Type 9 (Asset Management) regulated activities. FHAM HK employs multiple portfolio managers who primarily invest in the Asian markets. FHAM US has engaged FHAM HK as a sub-advisor with respect to the SMAs, and to a portion of the capital of the Master Fund.
